US CMA Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students:
Candidates need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for CMA certification:
- IMA Membership: Visit the official website of the IMA and join as a member.
- Education: Any 12th pass-out who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree or any graduate from an accredited college or institution, can pursue the CMA course. Degree verification must be done within 7 years of finishing the CMA examination.
- CMA Examination: One must qualify for both the parts of CMA exam to become a licensed CMA. The minimum passing score of the exam is 360.
- Work Experience: Candidates for the CMA certification must complete 2 continuous years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management. This requirement may be completed prior to or within 7 years of passing the examination.
IMA Membership:
There are 2 categories of IMA membership: Professionals and University students.
- For Professionals: The fees for membership and entrance along with discounted price is $297.50. For professionals, there is 50% off on 1-year membership and entrance. For both paper 1 and 2 of the US CMA exam, there is 20% off the exam fees.
- For Students: The fees for membership and entrance along with discounted price is $186.00. For the students, there is 50% off on 3 years of membership and entrance. There is 35% off on exam fees for both papers and the exam token is valid for 36 months.
IMA Scholarship:
- CMA Scholarship: IMA offers the CMA Scholarship Program to support the education of future accounting and finance professionals. The CMA scholarship allows students to complete the CMA certification at no cost, including the entrance fee and exam support package. The scholarship also includes up to 3 years of IMA membership and course provider review material.
- Eligibility: High-achieving students (undergrad through Ph.D.) who attend an accredited college or university in the U.S. or around the world; 5 students per school per academic year can be nominated for a CMA scholarship; and all students who are nominated by a professor will earn the scholarship.
- Advantages: In this CMA scholarship, the entrance fee is included. Exam support package with retired exam questions and a glossary of terms, and registration fees covering both parts of the exam (additional fees will apply for retakes) are all included in the scholarship.
- When to Apply? IMA accepts CMA Scholarship nominations each academic year from September 1 — June 30.
